I’ve got the gardening bug at the moment, the warm spring weather must be causing it. We have been planting heaps of veggies and flowers and the garden is finally starting to look a little fuller. We have huge garden beds that my dad and husband made, and while amazing, keeping them all full and lush can be quite daunting! Its mostly my mum and me in the garden at the moment and we have both been on a bean craze lately. Green beans are one of my favorite vegetables and they are so easy to grow. All of these we grew from seeds so they are also cheap as anything. We have these long narrow beds with a fixed trellis that are perfect for growing climbing beans. After adding a bit of organic fertilizer and marking out 2 rows, I simply pushed the bean seeds into the soil and then backfilled, a bit of a water and that’s it!
Mum is into dwarf beans and I am into anything slightly off an everyday regular bean 😛 so far we have snake beans, purple beans, yellow beans and 2 patches of mums dwarf beans. The dwarf beans are ready right now and will hopefully crop until the climbers are mature. I can’t wait till the purple beans start coming on and I also have my eye on some of these dragon tongue beans Mum will laugh at me I know but I like to grow something I can’t find everywhere!
I will try and share some of our favorite ways to use the beans over the next few weeks 🙂
Happy spring gardening everyone!
